Grumpy signing out

Over the last few months I have revisited a number of personal priorities. PFO, despite some enjoyable interactions, has now fallen off my priority list because of relatively low traffic and a significantly increased proportion of spam and porn posts. Also, while I consider it is important to nudge beginners wherever possible so they might find a path towards being more effective software developers, I have tired of the tendancy for beginners (and even experienced developers) to seek "canned answers" or do things by "brute force" rather than putting in their own effort to think through a problem. My personal inclinations are also evolving towards tackling some newer and more challenging technical concerns.

I wish the small number of online friends I have met here well, and hope that beginners here will find a path towards enjoyable and productive software development.

This will be my last post on PFO; goodbye, farewell, amen.

Re: Grumpy signing out

thanks for the time you participated at PFO, I know for one, your posts have helped my endeavors to become a decent programmer (still working on that part) I wish you the best.

P.s - You should move to Melbourne because it's better than Adelaide.

Thanks for all your help here at PFO. Your knowledge of the deepest details of C (among other languages), and your elaborate posts will certainly be missed.

Honestly, if it weren't for Sane's Challenges, I'd probably have left by now, it's the one constant that keeps me coming back here (So once again, Thanks for doing those Sane, really is a wonderful wonderful thing to have here).

The amount of Pill and Porn Spam seems to have gotten worse (again), hopefully it'll get better, but somehow I doubt it.

You'll be missed Grumpy, like DaWei, you were always a fountain of knowledge.

You have been one of the best and most respected members of PFO. PFO won't be the same without you. The porn and spam have gotten worse not only here but everywhere. Despite what you said I hope you stop by from time-to-time just to say hello if nothing else.

Good luck for whatever you do.

It's unfortunate to see you go, grumpy. Like many others, I have learned new things from your posts, and will miss your participation. I wish you the best in whatever life offers you.

But PFO won't be the same without you!

In any case, I wish you the best and good luck. Please visit again sometime, just to drop in and say hello.
