IstallShield problems
Hello,
I once developed a program in Delphi 5 and used tthe InstallShield Expess v2.1 to make a setup.exe file. I tried recently to run the setup file and install the program in a windows XP pro system. I get an error that the systm does not allow DOS or Windows operations and the setup failed. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Mike |

Is the InstallShield the version that comes with Delphi 5? I've checked my version and mine is version 2.12. I've tried mine in the past on XP home and XP pro and both work fine. How's the security on XP? Sounds like there is some kind of block stopping the installation program from running. Can't help there as I don't know XP Pro that well. Carl |

Thanks Carl,
You're right it's v2.12 that came free with Delphi 5. I got e message that something like "autoexecute.ini" (i'm on a different system now) cannot run on this system. Mike |

The 'autoexec.ini' is nothing to do with InstallShield. Have a look in the root C:\ directory to see if the file exists and what it contains. It could be a service or program running in the background is preventing the installation. Are you installing the program from floppy or CD? If so, try copying the files to a directory on the hard disk and run them from there. Also, you could try logging in to XP as an administrator. That's all I can suggest I'm afraid. Carl |
