Hi everyone, MERRY CHRISTMAS !
Well im on holiday break from school and the next topics ill be learning are threads and networking.
Id like to get myself ahead and like to know if anyone has any really basic tutorials to offer dealing with threads and server-client making.
For the networking part i just want to kno how to send a string through a socket to the server same thing from the server bak to the client, all in a GUI and not in the command window.
TX. Happy Holidays!

I haven't done any networking in Java before, so I'm afraid I won't be able to help you. I suggest reading the javadocs: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/...et/Socket.html

Also, googling it would probably show you what you're looking for.

Ive googled it and since im still relatively new to java all the examples have a lot of new stuff i never used so the examples are difficult to understand. Just looking for some really simple examples that do one specific thing excluding all the fancy stuff most examples comprie of.

you'll probably find networking and especially threading difficult if your not already pretty expirianced with java. I'd also recommend picking up the Core Java books or some of the relevant Deitel & Deitel books.

I wouldn't worry to much. The teacher will go at a steady pace I'm sure. Also, I would actually look up how to handle exceptions well. This will probably be more beneficial and give you a jump start.
