Embedded Programming
To all the Computer Engineers out there, how much of Comp. Eng. should I learn to get started in embedded programming & building embedded systems? I've already looked up a few books that look promising; but is learning comp. engineering via books way harder than learning programming through books? Is it advisable?(I know you learn them via books either way, but I mean w/o a professor)

Re: Embedded Programming
You wouldn't read a computer engineering book if you wanted to do embedded programming.
It would contain a lot of information that wouldn't be relevant. Instead pick a microcontroller and read a book that targets it. |

Re: Embedded Programming
There is a wide variety of embedded programs. Some embedded microcontrollers have only a few hundred or so byte of memory and recognize only assembly language. On the other end are systems that are close to desktop MS-Windows, such as Mobile 5.0 and WinCE.
