The problem is pretty simple, my uncle has got a little shop and wants to put something online, and maybe later bring up a shopping cart to sell online. I don`t know how to purchase a domain name or where to check if it is available, not taken. Are there any websites that can do this. And do any of you know of some web hosting firms that can host my page at a reasonable cost. Do they need paypal or credit cards. If you don`t understand something please let me know.

Once you select a web host, I would recommend you to use the OsCommerce script which is free and is written in the php language.
OsCommerce has a shopping cart system.

I know this may be a very noobish question but do these web hosting sites support the hosting other domains, for example:

Suppose that i buy a year a host at godaddy, with the domain www.first-site.com,
now what if i buy another domain like www.second-site.com and upload the files at my server at godaddy.com, when i write to the browser www.second-site.com will i have the uploaded files shown to me.

Basically a domain is an address that replaces the IP address of the machine which hosts your website. You can sometimes transfer domain names from one host to another and nothing will change except the name. The files you uploaded will be available at that new address.

I hope this clears it up a bit.
