Re: Forum backend in python - Can I please have the backend for a forum?

@hollystyles: I told him that already but I'm not so sure he gets it.

@titaniumdecoy: good idea, mine doesn't have a license it's just grab it and use it.

Therefore, GrimBB. However, this is a PHP forum not a Python forum, but it is a backend. Now please people let this thread die. And so help me if you PM me with a question Panarchy.

May you live forever Panarchy. ::points with spear::

Better yet, announce your awesome project and all the plans you have for it, get a Sourceforge page for it, recruit some coders, and by next week, you'll have the best forum software EVER!

My ISP offered a CGI based forum included with my free webspace, it was really basic but that was exactly what you describe. To make use of it I had to create the HTML pages there was only three I think: A thread view, a posts view and a thanks for posting page. I think it was called zist or something.

I had a quick search for CGI based forum script, didn't turn up much but maybe you can have better luck with a bit more time.
If you remember exactly what it is called, please tell me!

thanks in advance,

Panarchy

Hmm... sounds good, I will research it!

Re: Forum backend in python - Can I please have the backend for a forum?

I programmed a forum in Python using the web-development framework CherryPy. It was really simple; took maybe one day, and not too many lines of code. But I wouldn't give it away. Especially since it's currently integrated with some pretty expensive code of mine.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

^Hmm... okay... thanks... looks pretty interesting!

Can you show me what your forum looks like?

(It will be very good for research, too see how it runs compared to other forums [most are java])

Sorry, my webserver's been offline for at least a year. :/ Couldn't show ya. But it looked almost identical to the old PFO, if you remember that. The page generation times were usually less than 0.1s too.

Re: Forum backend in python - Can I please have the backend for a forum?

Wow... that's quick!

Are you sure you're not willing to share the code with me?

I won't host it onto any public servers.

I won't claim that it is my own work.

I just want to edit the design of it... that's my IST project!

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy
