Text Messages on PC

Hey yall, yall know how there are some things out there that let you send a text message to a cell phone. Well is there anything that lets you recive text messages on your computer? The reason I'm wondeirng is because I live out in the country, and I don't get service since I live so far out. Plus I have dialup, so when I'm online peopel can't get ahold of me. When I leave home I usually have about 15-20 text messages, and thats just one day, imagine what the weekend must be like. So do yall know of anythign like that, and if not would ir be hard to develop something like that?

Yeah, MSN does it aswell.

Personally i feel both are evil. Though i am lucky, With the new service where i live, i can send an sms directly to an email address, and they will receive it , no IM needed.

Actually, whenever i have used it, it takes no longer than a standard SMS would. And i use Outlook as my mail client, it pops a message when i get new mail.

I can see how sending an sms to a "free" email address would cause a delay though. That said, if you read the fine print, an sms's delivery could take upto 24 hours, and the telco's will take no responsibility for failure to deliver on time.
