hi all,

i am trying to make a shell script . i.e.
if the pc is disconnected from the network , make a msg appear in 20 sec, stating that website is not
available and ask the user to try again later. when the network is reconnected, the system should return
to the browser.

that's it.
please tell me how to solve this prob.

Actually, what you're refering to is failover for a web server and from what I've learned, that can't be done with a simple shell script. 3rd party programs along with two servers, etc...

I think he was just talking about for his web browser on a desktop. However, pretty much every browser has a message pop up if it can't get to the page.

yeah also, post some code and we'll help you figure it out, but none of us are going to program anything for you.
