PHP is very similar to C based languages (e.g. C#, C++ and of course C). VB would be a waste of time as it has no relation whatsoever to PHP.

LOL. I learnt PHP before I learnt before C# and it was so much easier afterwards. No though, PHP is an excellent place to start.

However, if you were thinking of learning C languages anyway then you might as well although I reiterate that PHP would be a better place to start and would help you to pick up the C languages better. PHP is easier and you do not have to compile it at all consiously.

Not entirely sure what you are asking, but you don't _need_ to know have any experience other languages before learning php as it is a reletively simple language to learn. Of course other experience in any language will help in learning the fundementals of programming. If you meant do you need to use C# or VB in conjunction with PHP, you don't. PHP works with the HTML markup and is good with databases such as MySQL.

If you don't want to learn C++, C or C#, try Java, it's slightly easier (probably same level as C# when it comes to difficulty). But yeah, PHP is a language totally worth learning. If you can learn Java or some other similar language, PHP will be a breeze. It was so easy for me after I had learned Java. It was as if I already knew it, or learned two languages in one.
