Temperature monitoring - Harware
Does anyone have experience with monitoring temperature? I need to find a way to monitor temperature in different areas of a server room and send notifications either by email or some other mean. What do you guys think would be best way do get this done? I haven't done much electronics and don't really know where I would start. What would be the easiest way of getting this done? I am not looking for comercial solutions as they tend to get rather expensive.

I think you can buy a complete, multi-probe commercial solution for less than $500. If you haven't done much electronics, you can easily farble that away before you even get started good.

Why don't you try RM Clock? It has a built in temperature sensor.
Oooops... just saw that you weren't talking about computers. Yeh I wqould quote what DaWei said but I really, really can't be bothered. Just know that I agree with him. Been serious now, why don't you try Lego Lindstorms - get the temperature sensor working with the RCX and it will beep and you can set it up to stop beeping when you touch it or say something or press a button on a remote control. Don't think it could do the email thing though. All for less than £60!!! |
