i found this site it OWNS, http://www.getafreelancer.com i got paid $800 to make a simple site in PHP and configure/modify/customize CGI scripts for their site.....it took me FOUR DAYS THATS IT!!! and they liked it too...

i saw "getafreelancer" and thought.. "great, a car comp, who needs this spam"

but now i see that it is "get a freelancer" not "get a free lancer"

... they should really consider a new domain name.

I think some people at my place of study put some of their work on those site, the situation is still being investigated. if that's type of people the site is aimed at then it should be easy money

Twenty bucks an hour is better than a burger flipper and worse than a mail carrier. I guess it boils down to where you put yourself in the scheme of things.

If you ask me, it looks like some homework assignment for some kid who's got more money than brains. Of course, this might explain why the requirements are so sketchy. For example, imagine the file contained the following:

(Toggle Plain Text)

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

Does that count as nine words? Ordoes it instead count as eight words, because there are only eight distinct (unique) words, given that 'the' is repeated? Rather than returning a single number, should it return output that counts occurrences of all the words? For example, like this:

(Toggle Plain Text)

2 the
1 quick
1 brown
1 fox
1 jumps
1 over
1 the
1 lazy
1 dog

I'm assuming in all three scenarios that it performs in a case-insensitive manner; should this not be correct, it will change the requirements yet again.

If I were to attempt this 'job', I'd be drawing up a detailed list of requirements, and I'd then get the client to sign off on it before doing any of the actual coding. Even then, if doing this requirements analysis is too involved, you need to ask yourself if it's worth your time; after all, the client may opt for another programmer, and you might have something more productive to do.

Would you do it for $5 if you could be successfully penalized for fraud if your program failed to pass all tests relating to the requirements? Wanna pass your $5 code over the GPL license and see how it does?
