File Restore

Hi Guys,

I deleted a file (shift + delete) about a week ago and it now seems that it was incredibly Important. Oh dear.

I have tried loads of file recoverys that I've downloaded with no joy.

Any ideas? The file was an excel file by the way.

Cheers guys

Deleteing a file in the normal way typically only deletes it as an entry in a table. Part of that process, however, is freeing up the space which it consumes. If the deletion is not reversed relatively immediately, that space will be used for new files. Bye bye, information. You may be able to recover portions of the file for which that has not yet happened. A week is a long time, however, if you use your system.

Note that this response does not cover situations in which the file is not actually deleted (think recycle bin, etc.), or the possibility of recovering the overwritten information by the use of very expensive and very technologically adept techniques. Nor does it address the issue of recoverability in the event that you performed a backup or set a restore point at some appropriate time. All that is a bit much for a post of this type.

The bottom line is that you should probably just wave bye-bye and learn from your mistake.

If you google for "file recovery software" or "free download..." you may get very valuable links. There are a lot of software out there that perform undelete. I have used acronis software but i had it cracked.
You can find sth in this link.

And I have a bridge in NY that I will sell you for $1.50. As cheap as that is, and as much as it will shorten your commute, it isn't likely to give you your file back.

For me it has worked. But i usually undelete only recent files. Because those that were deleted long time ago were gone or when restored were damaged. By the way nice one.

IF its space on your drive has not yet been overwritten, recovermyfiles is a piece of software that can recover it.

I recently used it on a friend's drive that had all its partitions wiped out and everything. It is quality recovery software and you can even filter by excel files if you'd like.

Its free trial limits you to only seeing which files are recoverable without actually completing the recovery process, in order to do this you have to activate it.
