Mysql and IIS server
I'm trying to get mysql to work using this sheet as a guideline:
http://home.cogeco.ca/~ebelec/mysql.jpg However, at STEP 4, of that guide (going to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php) I get the following error. Quote:
$cfg['SQLValidator']['username'] = 'root'; // If you have a custom username, specify it here (defaults to anonymous) $cfg['SQLValidator']['password'] = '-------'; // Password for username Is there something else that I have to change so that I don't get the error above? I really need help on configuring this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when I go to the command prompt in 'Win Xp Pro'. I typed
'mysqladmin status' and the command isn't recognized. However, I installed mysql so how could this be explained?

mysqladmin is probably not in your path, so the command is not known.
Try using absolute paths or modify your path to include mysql's bin directory and make sure your MySql service is running. On a side note, why IIS and not Apache? Just curious.

IIS Server was the first thing that came to my mind when I thought about windows, that's all.
EDIT*** Had to reinstall and it worked. Must have been me messing around with the my.cnf files. Thanks anyways.

Glad you got it working.
![]() If you later find that you don't like IIS, then you can try Apache for windows via this file: http://mirrors.sirium.net/pub/apache...x86-no_ssl.msi

Geez.. some guide you have there.. here:
http://www.peterguy.com/php/install_IIS6.html <- to get PHP5 running on IIS http://www.tanguay.info/wamp/installPhp5.php5?step=13 <- setting up mysql 4.1 (though works just fine for mysql 5) I am constantly amazed at what some companies will publish, especially when there are people that have way better guides online that are free to access. |
