Idiot idiot idiot me

If you don't notice what's wrong with the following, look again carefully. It's there:

Quote:
gcc -o assignment4.c assignment4
*sigh*...I seem to have lost 3 hours of work. Good thing I backed up every once in a while, at least. I am unbelievably irritated right now.

(Note...I've been up all night long working on this. Procrastination is a bad thing.)

Ouch. I've done similarly stupid things in the past... I hope you managed to recreate it.

Man, that sucks. Good thing you had a backup.

I'm definitely going to make a habit out of backing up my code a lot more often from now on. I lost my work at 8:17 AM. Last time I had backed it up was 5:30ish. Sadly, I had spent that entire time working diligently. In retrospect, I wish I had slept.

That's why I'm gonna love the next version of Mac OS so much... Time machine automatically backs up all your files each day (on a seperate disk).

Daily backups won't help you get back the last couple hours of work. Can't be hard to set up daily backups on any system though.

The industry's been doing daily backups since before the advent of the PC; Apple isn't inventing anything new. The .tar extension actually stands for 'tape archive'. As Jim says, though, that won't help you for the last few hours work, though. Oddly enough, I rarely protect my coding, but I always set a timed backup for large documents or when I'm doing CAD work.
