#Develop isn't too bad, either, as free .NET IDEs go.

#Develop is what I use on my laptop and it is quite good. As for money matters, I don't know what VC# would go for, but I know the Visual studio does get costly.

Well Visual C# Express Edition is free, I think it's just limited. Yes it is illegal to download it. You won't find any companies doing that.

If you guys are really serious about getting the studio or heavy software (such as SQL Server or something), and you don't want to pay for it, but at the same, don't want to illegally download it or burn it, try attending a MS Seminar or something. That's how I got it. (actually it was my boss but he gave it to me) When you attend something like that, they give you all kinds of free stuff. Just an idea.

Well if you dont have the means to buy that stuff you`ll have to do it illegally.
I dont think anybody have the money to buy it. And you only have to use it only for personal use and not at work.

You still gain something from using Visual C# regardless if you purchased it or not. What more can you do with Visual Studio Standard or better than you can't do with Express Editions when it's just for personal use? Even if it's for work, you make money of the software you purchased so really you don't lose anything.

I am not saying I don't pirate and I am not saying I do. I am just throwing that out there.

I dont know you but i do know myself, and i am poor so what can i do. I find everything on the net, well almost everything including books. Everyone chooses for himself and s/he decides what is best for himself. U do what u want but i can onlycounsil u to pirate things it saves u money. Why did microsoft bother to put 2 editions about visual studio? So some difference is? And it is said that the complete edition is better. So if i can download both of them freely why not download the money edition? I olways choose money over free.
