Wine Web Site

Hey everyone, I was just wanted to say hello and it's good to be back on the PF.

Iam currently working on a website about wineries, wasnt sure if anyone had any tip on how I could improve it. I've modified it from the html beast it was, but now I'm running low on ideas. Thanks and hope you like it. Maybe even sign up on the forums if you are into wine.

Who picked the color scheme, it seems sort of drab. I think that the site would look much better with a colorful representation of the sierra nevada mountain range. You know, with the purple majesty and stuff like that. Make it more appealing. But, that is just my small opinion.

I like where you are going with that, I think it looks a little too... dull.... Thanks for the input and if you have anymore be sure to post.

The navigation rollovers cause a shift. Probably just need a little tweaking.

The colour scheme looks similar to the horid scheme that I use on every site (before someone slaps me on the wrist and makes me change it for the good for mankind).

I have the design sense of a lost dumbfounded monkey but maybe you could make the background of the body area a bit lighter, I'm thinking maybe a very light grey or even white.

It looks like a technical site, not a site about wine. You should look at warm color schemes, rather than cold ones.
Here is a kinda technical view of the difference
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_t...s._cool_colors

Also, the rollover menu's are too big as Dawei mentioned.

Besides that I'm not sure, maybe a little more contrast with the main text blocks and its background. Right now it seems a little hard to read, but that might just be because I'm tired

My suggestion is: if your site is about wine, then give it the impression of wine. Use wine colours - combine red and purple with light colours, maybe slightly light-green. Go for contrast. The colour scheme of your header makes no sense, IMO. The background behind your main content is way too dark.

You've gotten some good advice here on colours, might I suggest improving the menu system when users don't have JavaScript enabled. Much easier said than done I admit but it's just an idea.

Thanks everyone, I'm loving this feedback. I'll look into new colors and post them here and maybe you guys can help me finalize it. I plan to remove the roll overs because they are honestly more work and load time than needed.

Thanks again everyone for the advice.
