You should configure Apache to treat everything in the directory where you're storing the files as plain text (if you haven't already). In that directory's .htaccess file, add:
<Files *> ForceType text/plain </Files> |

@IR: That's why I said client-side. You could have just answered 'yes' to my question. >_> Although, now I do see what you mean how they could run the php script in their browser, and have it effect my server directly.
