Was this before or after you confirmed the saving?

See section 6.2 for how I developed it. I thought of it because I remember once when somebody told me a wise concept... that everything able to be done in real life has a marketable counterpart on the internet.

Is that just a site for advertising your completed projects? Thanks for the link.

I will only add stuff from now on that doesn't add to the bulky appearance of it. So possibly custom folder icons and other things I may think of.

Yes, advertising revenue may not be enough to keep it hosted on a .com domain server. I'll have to see.

digg.com is a big bookmarking site where users submit links about news in tech sci etc gernes and ppl "digg" them ,which adds up a counter on each link. top dugg storys apear on thier tv show and some how popular stuff hits their home page.

the whole notepad online thing has been done by www.writely.com and google is taking over that market to rivle MS office. what google is going to do is make a full office suite and have it online for free with a but load of ads and data mining. so yah.

It's a bad idea to give links to non-existant sites online. It's all too easy to construct a bot that looks for unavailable or recently deregistered domains and to cybersquat on them in hope of some quick cash.

However, this doesn't matter in this case, as OnlineTextEditor.com was snapped up in Auguest 2005, according to whois.

Not exactly. Writely is a lightweight word processor. Sane's made a text editor. There's a difference in goals and functionality between the two applications.

Again, not exactly. Writely will never rival Microsoft Word; browsers aren't capable of that level of functionality. Google is after a niche market; people who don't need much functionality but who want to easily collaberate on documents over the net.

Well, nevermind .. it's working now.
Keep up the good work

// Later

I wanted to save a ~60 KB file. After I press Save As button and confirm the action it takes ... a few minutes before i can do anything with the browser, and the file doesn't get saved.
If i try to open a different file, it does ask if i want to discard the current one. So it's defenetly not saved.

It seems pretty good; I don't have any use for it though.

xavier, I believe that's just because I'm running it on my home webserver. If I got it all on a real server, with better than a home connection, it should be much faster.

My next update will have a menu bar containing all the options, instead of all those icons at the top and the boxes on the left.

By the way. Xavier. I tested what you said by saving a 65 kb file. It saved INSTANTLY (since I was on local host). So it's not an issue of extremes applied to the client. Merely need for a better server... http://saney.ath.cx:8080/OnlineTextE...t=untitled.txt
