I wouldn't use NoSQL unless you need to scale your databases down the road. It's great for big cloud applications and gathering disjunct data sets, nothing more.

There are only two types of databases you should be concerned with right now: relational (like MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, etc.), and NoSQL (Mongo, Couchbase, Berkeley DB, Redis, and many others)....
