I suggest using PostgreSQL as Oracle will be more than likely having some control over MySQL. For now MySQL is a subsidiary of Sun Microsystems.

eclipse. its open source and you can make plugins for it. In my class the prof handed out style templates so every one's code would be formated similarly. I use the AVR plugin for AVR...

The QB forum, where I was born, had a compition catagory. Some really good programs came from there. The two that come to mind are pathfinding and one button games.
