Programmers WANTED

Hello My name is Jason Mulligan and I am here with a proposal to any Programmers or graphics artists or anyone else of whom it may concern.

I am looking to put together a team of programmers/graphic artists/etc,. to attempt to create a very realistic/life-like first person shooter game. First thing I would like to say is that this program (if completed) will only be freeware so there will be no pay involved. (unless of course it gets finished and is great maybe someone will purchase the idea but as of now NO PAY involved). I have a beginning to the idea of the game but it is know where near completion so if anyone is interested please contact me at
s-unit_4_life@hotmail.com .
Below I will give a slight overview of my intentions with this project.

Overview

General
It’s the Year 2054. Over The Last 50 years Earth (The United Earth Alliance) has met 3 races of humans living on separate planets outside our solar system. The Cisnet, The Saurez, and The Luxx. Earth Has formed into one great nation called The United Earth Alliance. This was done to ensure the planets protection in the event of war. And just as our leaders predicted The Luxx And The Cisnet have declared war on our planet. It is to our advantage that we had an agreement with The Saurez. In war terms The UEA and The Saurez are known as the Face Alliance. And The Luxx And The Cisnet are known as the Skratch 3 Alliance. Both Alliances are about even technologically and have about even firepower and man power but both have been studying several new weapons and training methods.

Do you realize how long and hard it would be to make this game of yours? It takes a couple years to make a decent FPS with talented team of programmers and graphics designers. I think you drastically underestimate what it takes to make a decent game.

@killer_j27:

what language are you going to work with?

I agree with King. All too many people think that with a team of programmers you can get it done in maybe less then a year. But you have to realise that the professional companies who hire employees to work around the clock for high pay, usually average two years per game.

Maybe you don't want to match the industry standards (understandable), but it will still be considerably the same difficulty; your graphics artists will just have it a little more easier.

Well, It isn't actually as time consuming as most people think. The quality would definately be really poor, but the game could be made in less than a year with only a few programmers, good programmers. I created a level with an almost perfect movement system, minus the strafing(didn't find out how to strafe). Within 3 weeks of programming in opengl, that's doing tutorials then doing it alone.

Then you have to put it on the market and see who shucks some of their bucks for it -- the ultimate peer review ;) .

Why not mod an existing FPS? You would still need help.
