Interested in marketing a product?

Hey, I've been working on a simple yet powerful remote host called "virtual computer".

It allows you to modify/manage/upload files from a remote computer, simply by setting up an account on your main computer and accessing it from a web.

You can set privileges for different accounts, and it's very simple to set up.

What I am trying to do is improve then successfully market this program to make a little money and get some hands on business experience.

Now I'm looking for anyone who can offer any one of the following
- marketing/advertising strategies
- set up a pay to download system
- help create a securely unhackable demo
- certify program's security and safety
- make CSS templates
- program more features in Python

The program is made with Python 2.4 and CherryPy 2.1.

If anyone can give their help, contact me at drsane_@hotmail.com or dr.sane@gmail.com , or post back here.

Do not come in to this expecting a large payout/benefits. This will be run on virtually no budget, and is mainly a hands-on experience endeavour. :)

I'm just curious man... what would I be able to do with this that I can't do via SSH?

DaWei Feb 6th, 2006 8:56 AM

Truthfully, it sounds less like you need free help and more like you want a free employee. Maybe your respondents won't wonder why you get to be boss and major stockholder; who knows?

Ah, hmm. If there's an open source and free alternative. That's a problem. =\

Well there would be stuff with this like having the ability to automatically setup 100s of accounts and then output the userIDs and passwords. This would create the same setup as our school's server. There's also ways to run programs on the server, execute commands, and control open processes. More to come I guess.

It would also be really cheap, like $1 for unlimited use.

But if there's a free alternative, I may just consider trashing this.

Ahh. ok. My suggestion would be to evaulate the free alternative... and add features that are not included in it. Do what it does but better and add support... that will be well worth the cost for your program.

Never trash a project... I've done that several times and have regretted it each time.

No need to trash it; if it's no good the customer will do it for you  .

Yeah I wondered what he meant by 'securely unhackable'.
If it's unhackable it's secure.
If it's secure it should also be unhackable.

What's the word in English which says it's doubly said?

Redundant.
