Asked to create a website
I have been requested to build a website for an insurance business. However, I do not know what I should charge. I will look at local companies to make my prices competitive, but I just want to know how you guys would set it up, module wise...
For instance, how would you base charges? Per database Bandwidth (how can i tell how much its taking?) Hosting (per month, per year) - will be running local on apache Domain Name - will configure through godaddy.com or somewhere Monthly maintenance Backup Service Tech Suppot any ideas are appreciated. |
The first thing to consider is your client. Big/mid sized company that can deduct the expense or small operation (the kind you would do for next to nothing just to get experience)
Second thing, how many pages? a basic website with about five pages and a few images is around the $800.00 ballpark but I know people that get away with charging almost $1500 for the same thing. Javascript, flash, animated banners. All these things are considered extra in most scenarios. If they want to add a page take your base package price, divided it by number of pages and viola you have your page price. 800 / 5 = 160 Hope this helps, but remember it strongly depends on the customer and your own personal feel for the customer. (I've done pages for next to nothing) And personal tip, very important. Do not set a launch date for the site if you don't have ALL of the data for the site and images. |
Ottomh, $100/mo.
