Hi there, new to this forum, actually to any forum and decided to be active.
Currently working on a 3d Scroller. Well partially 3d. The ships fly in 2d but are drawn in 3d. So far have been looking up open GL stuff and working on my C++ code. To date have finalized the movement system, the scrolling part of the engine, the model loader and the sound engine. AI is very sketchy at the moment, doesn't really do much, just planning to use waypoints to give them a set path for the moment. Also the collision detection works. I am not very skilled just very bored and 3D has always interested me. Anyone out there that can help me with hidden face removal I would be very appreciative. Also anyone with ideas for a title please let me know :) Anyways just thought I would add a post. |
Sounds pretty interesting. I guess boredom and necessity inspires invention. ;) I need to pick up some more OpenGL but hardly have the time. For some reason Battlecruiser comes to mind as a title, but I'm sure that is imprinted in my mind from some other game that I play.
Have fun and welcome to the forum! |
Sounds interesting. I'm currently learning DirectX, and want to learn OpenGL as well, but it's gonna take some time.
Oh, and sorry, but all the good names have already been taken. |
Hey, welcome to the forum. Good luck with your project. Hopefully we can see a final copy when you'redone then.

Will definitely post the source. Going to be at it for a while though.
Only working on it in spare time. Got projects due for the next couple of weeks, but will hopefully work on it during holidays this month. Will leave it unnamed for now :) Hopefully come up with something later. Or just leave the name as A Scroller :P Battlecruiser is from Starcraft unless you heard that from somewhere else. |
Definitely Starcraft: Broodwar
