Need Some Advice
 

For my programming final exam, we have to make a program of our choice. The only catch is that it has to incorporate a database into it. We can use an Access database, or, for extra credit, we can use a MySQL server database. I'd like the extra credit, so I'd rather use the MySQL. What do I need in order to create a MySQL server, and could you please give me an outline of how to tie Java and MySQL together? I'm not good with database stuff, so any help would be appreciated.

Also, if you could throw out a good idea for a program I could make, that would be very helpful as well.

Have you checked out MySQL's Website? That'll be the best place to get the information you need for the server part. Have you googled your idea: MySQL Connection in Java....???

Make a testing program so students can take tests on the computer...

I googled it, but I used different words and it turned up no helpful results. Working it the way you did, I found a couple helpful resources. Thank you.

As for the testing program, that's not a bad idea. I'll keep that idea in mind.
