It would be great to have a section devoted to web hosting in this forum. For example, we were looking for some unbiased info on our web host, Server Intellect. So far, we have found them to be excellent and are very happy with their services. Other info could prove to be very helpful for the future.

Thought I'd post a warning against using http://www.telivo.com/ - I've got a couple of domains hosted with these people and the creaking old versions of MySQL and PHP they run are embarrassing. I've tried to get them to upgrade but they insist this isn't possible because 'it's a shared server'; as if other customers would object to an upgrade!

Their sister company, serverchoice, offer virtual private servers and dedicated servers, and I suspect they're deliberately letting their shared hosting rot so that more people go with that option.

Beware of cirtexhosting, their customer services is next to shit. There down time is horrendous, they are totaly biased on their forums, so anything deemed too negative that might put of potential new customers is erased without any warning, these are posts that contain no bad langauge but phrases like:
why haven't I had response for like 10 days
why are your servers down so much.

To top it they take in more business than they can handle, so even if you have a 5 page static site it would take some seconds( almost a minute) to load. This is either they are running some crappy hardware or have too many people on one box.

I could go on but I think you get the point.

You know, this thread sounded a lot like spam. However, for free servers I use 110mb.com and awardspace.com. t35.com is half-decent but they could really care less about what happens to free users.
