hello world;

Hey everybody.

A few years ago, (in high school), I took a some courses on VB and *briefly* started to learn Java. Now I have a bit of extra time on my hands and am looking to get back into programming. A few times since high school, I began to learn C++, but I wasn't too crazy about it. Ive also learned HTML, JavaScript and CSS, but I don't think web is my thing. What I liked about VB was that it had a visual aspect to it, so I took a look at Visual C++ (a bit daunting, frankly).

If anyone had any suggestions as to what I should try to move towards, I'd be very appreciative. Like I said, I really liked the visual part of VB and am looking for something along those lines.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

If you do like the visual side of it, then perhaps you should try something like VC# as it is a better language than VB basic but still has the visual development to it.

For a bigginer to programming i'll always recommend the same to people, Python. it is a great language to learn as a beginner as it is simple to learn, it also teaches you good programming technique'sand generally gets you in good habbits from the start such as writing clean code.
