Beowulf Cluster Computers
Over the years I have collected old computers and gizmos, my parents are annoyed at me for collecting the stuff and putting it into the garage. Anyway, a lecturer of mine a year ago told me of a Beowulf Cluster, I took note, it sounded interesting.
It wasn't till recently a friend of mine told me about a Beowulf Cluster that a lecturer had built for his personal use. Now, in theory, with a bunch of computers (23 to be exact) I could build one, they are mostly Pentiums. The only problem is I don't know were to start. I'm just looking for a place to start. Any suggestions? It's a cool project that I want to start and get my parents off my back about filling up the garage with computers.:) |
Re: Beowulf Cluster Computers
This book looks interesting. It's not about Beowulf clusters, but OpenMosix looks like a pretty cool system too.

Re: Beowulf Cluster Computers
So I'm assuming you can't bridge networks to offset the "limit of network overhead". The SETI program is like the same concept except it's purely networked, right?

Re: Beowulf Cluster Computers
IR just recently posted a topic almost identical to this one. There's some useful links in that thread.
