Radio/Band Signal Receiver/Transmitter
So this is probably more to the Electrical Engineers and the Radio Buffs in our group. I'm looking for a type of hardware that can pick up radio waves and I don't mean just AM/FM signals, just any type of wave that could be picked up. An Application for this would be you are setting up a wireless network and for some reason you can't get a good signal. So you have this application run and it picks up signals coming from a two way radio someone is using. I'd like to be able to listen to (I don't mean listen to that specific signal, I mean that it can pick up and display) all frequencies. For example, I'd like to be able to pick up TV, AM/FM Radio, CB, Police Radios, etc. I'd like it to also be able to pick up digital and analog signals. Does anyone know of a device that can do this or work as an antenna and then transfer the signal to a program somehow and the program analyzes it?
If something like this does exist, does anyone know of one that can transmit as well? I know that transmitting would get the FCC Involved with certain applications and that would be taken into consideration if the hardware does exists. A Future thing for this would be setting up my own Wireless network that uses it's own specs to run and not 802.11 A/B/G or N. |
Re: Radio/Band Signal Receiver/Transmitter
To my knowledge, that sort of think would be impossible/very expensive. Also, I doubt the authorities would like you having that sort of thing so my guess is that it wouldn't exist but I'll watch this thread just in case.
But no, sorry, I don't know of any exact hardware. You'd need something..... well...... and I quote Quote:
EDIT: How would you interface your new networking device with the computer? Wouldn't you like have to re-write a heck of a lot of stuff? Let me know how your search develops...... |
