What music do you listen to when programming?

What music does everyone listen to when programming? I'm just a curious guy.:)

I myself, listens to the following when programming (It depends on the language):
  • PHP: Massive Attack
  • Javascript / XHTML / CSS: Interpol
  • JAVA: Deftones
  • VB.NET: Mogwai
  • SQL: Daft Punk

NOTE: I know XHTML / CSS is not programming as such, it's just that I use javascript in relation with them.

What does everyone else listen to when coding.

Nothing in particular, for me. I listen to whatever I'm in the mood for, which includes nothing. Even when listening to music while programming, I sometimes turn it off if I need to concentrate extra hard.

For gaming, it's different. I find something loud and aggressive tends to work best. ;)

I like to listen to and work best listening to podcasts when programming. But sometimes specially when I encounter problems I turn it off.

I used to listen to podcasts, but found that I can't concentrate on both things at once. Podcasts are now reserved for the train.

It depends on my feeling. Right now, It's Notorious B.I.G. Most of the time, it's some variant of heavy metal - usually something symphonic and Scandinavian. Of course, when I'm working to a very tight deadline and need a musical kick up the arse, it's the Lord of the Rings soundtrack all the way.

listning to music is too distracting so I never listen to anything. I won't even allow a radio to play in the same room. I want dead scilence -- if people want to talk they do in in another room.

Same here. No music, no talking. I need dead silence.

As an example, Tuesday at school, I will be doing a 3 hour contest in the afternoon. I didn't like the idea of being stuck in the lab with another class, so I got the Computer Science teacher to kick both afternoon classes out on my request. Haha.

Haha, You're all quite different than me then? I program the best with the good old buzzing of a fan cooler and some very very loud death metal or equal stuff. It works great for me xD (You might find the cooler part confusing, but mine makes a jet-sound)

Mostly I like to listen to classical, mainly because of the mathematical properties it has but I find that it has to be turned off when there is something that demads my full attention.

I'm a big fan of Classical music (especially Baroque), certain types of Jazz, and Classic Rock.
