Everyone needs to take a break now and then.

He probably unplugged for a while and kicked back sipping on some scotch. :)

He's still around; I saw posts by him yesterday on another site.

My guess would be that he has felt some conflict between being a mod here and his normal direct posting style, and needs to decide how he wants to proceed.

I have to say that this site is much less interesting without DaWei around. If grumpy is right, I hope the two will work something out.

I think what grumpy meant was that perhaps DaWei feels that so long as he is a mod, he has to restrain himself somewhat, and not be his usual acerbic self. I for one miss the comments at demanding newbies about not sucking on mama's sugar tit. ;)

In all honesty, though, the holiday season is just wrapping up, and while DaWei is retired, he's probably taking the opportunity to spend time with family and friends who aren't, and who are more available this time of year.

It's all about priorities, and real life comes before forum yakking for most of us.

As far as I can tell, titaniumdecoy realized that, and was referring to "the two" as 1) PFO, and 2) DaWei. I could be wrong though.

I'll take his mod position if it's being too rough on him. ;) I noticed he was gone as well, but figured it was family-related.

We're all waitin' on ya DaWei. Cheers.

DaWei has grown on you folks, that's obvious. New people don't find him all that appealing, I assure you, especially when you ask too many questions that he doesn't feel like answering. You're liable to get a response like I got shortly before he quit posting that came from somewhere outside the ballpark and does nothing for helping to solve the problem.

I'd even go so far as to say DaWei's color is more contra-productive than anything. When he does help, he's great, but other times...

Re: What happened to DaWei?????

Depends on your notion of "productive", Jabo.

Most of the posts from Dawei that newbies don't like are a direct result of unproductive behaviour by others. For example, asking an unclear question in a forum where it is meaningless and taking offence when an immediate answer is not forthcoming. Or a newbie who posts a question and, by their own wording, betrays the fact they haven't put in ANY effort to solve or understand the problem on their own. Even better, there are those who do the same thing on at least three forums.

The ones who like Dawei realise that he has a lot of knowledge and is genuinely willing to help people who have made a genuine effort to solve their problem before hitting the forums.

Productivity is not the same thing as giving people what they want or demand.
