"Wickum" Note: Wickum= wiki/forum
I am going to try to make a forum/wiki where people can post their own ideas etc. I want it to be basically all wiki, except the main page will be a forum. I will try to find the code for a wiki & some for a forum. Could someone help me put them together to get what I described?
(I also considered "Fwickum", but that seemed too close to ****. |
Re: "Wickum" Note: Wickum= wiki/forum
Uh....
1) Install a Wiki 2) Install a Forum 3) Replace the Wiki's index.php with the Forum's index.php 4) Modify the forum template to point to pages on the wiki. Sounds like nothing revolutionary. I'm sure it's been done in plenty of places, especially since placing different open-source web solutions on the same site is not uncommon. |

I'm a complete novice, more or less. I get the first 3, but what's theforum template?

Re: "Wickum" Note: Wickum= wiki/forum
Most quality forum software supports the ability to change the general template of how each page appears. By modifying this template, you can add links to different pages in the wiki, add the code for a search bar, etc... How you modify this template depends entirely on the forum software, and can be learned about by researching more about that software.
