Featured Coder
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I have this lovely badge Attachment 564, so elloquently snatched from DaniWeb, and I was thinking it would be a good idea to award one member a month (or whatever is reasonable) with the Featured Coder badge, which they can then forever wear next to their username the same way that mine says Admin. Each month, a member could win the badge a different way but the idea is for the community to choose the person each month. For example, one member might have stood out by helping a lot of people one month, another member might win a badge the next month for solving a programming riddle. What do you think of the idea? |
Re: Featured Coder
Great idea! I love it! It would encourage users to post more useful stuff and answer questions (well for me at least). How would we choose a member? A new thread each month with a vote?

Re: Featured Coder
I'm thinking that the community can choose a different member based on different credentials each month since every member helps out and contributes in a different way. Sometimes members can be nominated and voted on, and other times a moderator might post a programming riddle and the first person to solve it is the member of the month.

Re: Featured Coder
Nice idea. Sounds great. That'll make things a little less bland 'round here.

Re: Featured Coder
I must have been slipping in my responses if this site can be described as "bland."

Re: Featured Coder
oooo lets do it :D

Re: Featured Coder
It's a good idea, but don't make it too easy. If you give it to someone who did well once but they can't back it up most of the time, it may give a poor impression of the site.

Re: Featured Coder
I was actually planning on letting the community decide on the criteria.

Re: Featured Coder
I agree with Jimbo. Can't be too easy, but with that said, I don't see a criteria that too many members will be able to meet (without it looking easy). Perhaps you should put a riddle or problem every month, and have us vote on whoever has the best answer.
