Canis Major is here
Hello everyone. Sorry about the title, it's kinda corny.
But anyway, I'm Nick, 19 years old, living in Manila I just love programming. In fact, I started programming when I was in grade four. My first language was QBasic and I learned using older books and worked my way up from there. Technically, though, some books have mentioned that BASIC is not a programmer's language. But I started with that. I think I first encountered C when I was in grade six, when everyone else in my batch was still learning the ropes for BASIC. I eventually moved on to C++ by the time I was in high school, despite that I have not really gone deeper to C. Also during this time, I tried to understand Java, but I was not yet able to do so because of my C and Basic mindset. I was not yet ready for such flexibility. But by the time I was in third year high school, I pretty much learned Java when people were still again, grappling with more advanced BASIC. Just last year, I learned the basics of C#, and I enjoyed it. To cut the story short, I just love programming, and not only in one language. Of course, I am trying to focus on C/C++ despite that my school right now is pushing C# and Java. I've also had a brief romance with Assembly Language. Once I get deeper into C++, I should be able to get back to that. Not a lot of people use it here anymore, I guess, but I don't know why Assembly Language looks so appealing. Another thing about me is that I find programming line-by-line than using WYSIWYG editors more appealing. It's something like writing a book and then you bring that book into life once it is complete. Hmm... I think I've said too much already. I hope I haven't raised everyone's expectations because despite of my experience in those languages, I have learned their basics because I have been exploring the language which is right for me. So far C/C++ is good. I don't have any problems with Java. I just have more fun programming in C++ than Visual Basic. So, I've learned that each language has strengths and weaknesses which can help us to pick which one we should use for different situations. Yeah, that's about it. Thanks guys! |
