Trying out Komodo

This ActiveState Komodo is really cool. Works great with Python. But you can also use Java and C++ with it. Problem is I don't know how to run a program. When you use it with Java or C++, you have to type in a Run command. What to type? I've been looking in the Help files, but they don't really tell you what to type just to simply run your program. If anyone has any ideas, I'll try them out. The ActiveState forum is bad. Nobody around there at all to help.

For C++ try using DevC++ (my favorite) or wxDevC++. For Java eclipse works best according to what I have heard. I'm pretty sure Komodo was only made for scripting languages.

You can use Komodo with Java and C++, it's just that you can't run your program from the Debugger menu, you have to issue some kind of a Run command. It's a bummer cuz I'd like to see it in action, but I just don't know what to type in the box.

I can't find anything on the ActiveState site that says that Komodo is designed for anything other than scripting languages. Where did you get your information from?

It probably has the syntax highlighting and all that for most languages, but I believe it is an IDE geared towards web langauges. Haven't used it in a while. I'll glance at it on my comp at home after school...

The people at ActiveState replied to my email and they told me that Komodo does support Java. Plus, there is an entry for Java and C++ right in the IDE.

You should like Komodo. I mean, look at your name.

Yeah, ActiveState stole it...

I looked at it, and it's like I said before, it has that code coloring and stuff for most languages but doesn't have any compilers as far as I can see...

We believe you, really, we do. The thread is kind of dragon, though, don't you think? Parthenogenesis might revive it.

I don't think you do! lol.

btw, ActiveState Komodo is a great IDE, I tried several others and I find this one to be my favorite. so for those that use an IDE, check it out.
