Midp
Hi I'm a newbie here so please any forum gurus don't kill me :D
Ok I'm looking to develop software for mobile phones and PDAs in Java. I've heard about MIDP, but what is it exactly and how does it fit in with Java? The wikipedia page is a bit vague, but it says it is a specification. I assume from this it is a virtual machine specification...A virtual system environment on an actual system? If my assumption is correct, then when one programs this system, they are isolated from the actual system. So if I wanted to say call a Windows Mobile OS function, I would have to use the virtual system equivalent? Is MIDP even supported in the Windows Mobile? Does anyone know any good resources for beginning with this subject? Apologies for the barrage of questions and thanks for any help. |
I would go with NetBeans if you have to develop for phones and PDAs. Java ME is what you are looking for.
