looking for a good windows programming book

I wasn't sure where to put this topic so I just decided to put it here. I have a pretty good knowledge of C and C++ and want to learn windows system programming. My goal is to learn windows system programming and then learn directX but I got the impression that to learn directX, knowing windows programming helps. Is this correct? So I am looking for a good book to learn windows programming. I briefly looked on amazon.com and there were a couple but i wanted to see if anyone here had any suggestions for a good beginners book to windows programming. And then after that a good book to learn directX. Thanks.

If your plan is to learn Directx then I would pick up a 3D math book too. To speak to the experts (generally speaking) go -> here

yea i've been to that website a few times in the past. I didn't really find it much help. I think to get started i just need a good book to go over all the basics because i've found using those forums and other stuff from the internet and just jumping right in to be confusing.
