Spyware database

Hi,

I am writing a Windows utility and anti-spyware program. I need a spyware database to be able to detect malicious software, but the problem is I haven't found any despite the amount of time I searched for it on the internet. I am looking for a file which contains such a database in a readable format (ex. XML). Does anyone know of such a file and/or where to find it?

Thank you,

Leslie

As far as I know, anti-spyware companies make their own databases. They're unlikely to want to give you a helping hand - why encourage competition?

You MAY NOT use an automated program to harvest information from this website. We don't have the bandwidth to accomodate such requests. In addition, many of the scam anti-spyware programs available (that are usually malware themselves) get their databases and updates from sites such as this one. We can detect mass dowload activity from our HTML and our database. Any IP address found to be doing a mass-download without the express permission of the Database of Spyware Project will be permanently banned from viewing this site.
You can get a copy of their database if you ask nicely though. :)

If you would like a copy of our database for your own personal use, please contact us. We are always in need of donations, and for a small (and I mean small) donation, we would be happy to give you a copy in database form. We will ask what you are using it for, so be prepared to answer!
