I've seen far worse... personally.

One guy I knew had a bunch of old PC parts and no case. So he plugged the parts together, covered all the open leads in electrical tape and stuck it in a plastic tub and wired a light switch up to it for the power switch.

I'm thinking of mounting my PC on the underside of my desk. What do you guys reckon?

i've seen it done before, it can actually be quite neatly organized, (with the wires pressed down and clipped) You should get one of those CD trays where you insert the CD instead of having a tray open up then you can mount it facing upwards so you only have to drop down the cd.

most of my PC's start with a piece of grounded metal and parts strewn around random places.

Ooble, if you did that, then you should probably cover it up so you don't bump your legs on it or anything lol :P.
