Funny Link of honda robot

Check this out: http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive...robot_fal.html

isn't it great how many video cameras and cellphones with video capabilities are out there, i mean we get to see great stuff like this all the time now!

why did they cover it up when it fell down, i think everyone in the room was old enough and saw those kind of strange parts:eek:

Poor Honda... :) Microsoft comes to mind when seeing their robUtt "crash".

Stupid robot.

Artificial intelligence has reached its limits, and it still has very little intelligence. Computers are stupid and always will be, until biological processors (or something) are invented.

BinarySurfer Feb 2nd, 2007 4:51 PM

Yeah, that had to be very embarrassing for Honda since it seems like they were showing it. Oooh, someone(s) is going to get whipped and severely punished for that.

Duck: " Stupid robot. Artificial intelligence has reached its limits... Computers are stupid and always will be..."

-I have to disagree, it looked more like mechanical failure.
-As for AI, I also disagree. There are still slow advances in that field.
-Literally, computers are "stupid". I hope you realize that a computer is as "smart" as the programmer(s) can make it. There are continuous advances in that area. If you're looking at the lack of conscience, then you need to get a grip on reality and stop bashing robotics simply because it doesn't compare to the movies. I cannot see into the future, but I do know this isn't the limit.

Duck Feb 2nd, 2007 6:17 PM

There are not continous advances in AI, there haven't been any advances for probably more than 10 years. Its just now we have quicker computers the AI software we have can now be used more extensively, and oftern in real time, since things like computer-vision (etc etc) are extremely processor intensive.

EDIT: And oh yeah, I know this is the limit, lol lol. Until hardware radically changes (as mentioned) we'll see no significant advances.

PS: Don't take offence from my arguing, we can agree to disagree!

I found the walking, balancing, and running(both feet leaving the ground simultaneously) impressive. I'm sure the higher processor was behind it, but design and physics of the robot has a tremendous role too.

I would like to hear what others think too (no offense).

Yes (regardless of my other comments) it is quite an impressive display of technology. I wish computers did have the potential to be as clever as us, because there would be soooo much more scope for innovative/exciting software to develope, but unfortuneately they don't. Thats another thing, theres no innovation in software anymore, things are improved apon etc, but we see virtually nothing new.

Makes you wonder about their cars, don't it :beard:

We'll know the robots got smart when they chug a few beers, jump in their car, and kill a few innocent fellow beings.
