Unable to update webpage
A long time ago I created a web site powered by the (now free) pMachine CMS. All content, aside from the layout, is dynamic. The web site is hosted on MediaCatch servers, and has been for over 2 years. In the past I have spent an inordinate amount of time making minor adjustments to each page.
The server-side language I am using is PHP. The essential code layout is extremely simple; header and footer pages are included on each page, and a sidebar is included by the footer. Oddly enough, I recently checked the site, and the sidebar has (poof!) vanished. My friend told me he had been fiddling around but I can't figure out what he did. Now whenever I save changes to any PHP file, literally nothing happens. I have tried emptying my browser's cache, history, even resetting it, all to no avail. It is as if the files being served to my browser are hosted on another server. The files are in a subdirectory to which the domain in question points; the parent directory is the root of another domain I own. I can make changes to files in this and any other subdirectory with no problems updating. I am completely stumped. If anyone has any ideas why this might be the case, please let me know. I've sat on this problem for the last month but nothing has occurred to me. |
Permissions for the directory in question?

No, I can save changes to the files in said directory with no problem. Unfortunately this makes no difference when I load the page in my browser. I suspect I could erase all the files in the directory and it wouldn't affect the website. Very odd.
