Hello all,
I am new here and I look foward to learning and helping. I am not much of a programmer but I dabble and will hopefully get much better. Any suggestion on what Flava may be good to mess with is appreciated I lean towards Visual C++. |
I haven't been around this forum long myself, but welcome anyway. :)
>Any suggestion on what Flava may be good to mess with is appreciated I lean towards Visual C++. Flavor of what? Compiler? Visual C++ is fine provided you're actually working with C or C++. I've had people ask me questions about Java, then tell me that they used Visual Studio. |
Welcome to the club, Blk... I can't spell it. Anyhoo, Visual Studio is great (well, .NET anyway - Dev-C++ beats the old one hands down, though I haven' tried the latest version of that), but as Englebert said, make sure you're using C++ before you get it :P

Thanks for the warm welcome and input.
I have Visual studio 6 enterprise. I will have .Net shortly. Is it better for me to setup a linux box and use C to program as well or is the Visual studio 6 / .net Fine. Being that Im working on a project and I am having some trouble with 6. |
Before you get Visual C++ .NET, take a look at Dev-C++ - might be just what you're looking for. And about your problem, why not post it in the forums, and we'll take a look at it. It's not usually the compiler's fault.

It depends on what you want to do. Many people get along just fine with Windows and Visual Studio. In fact, Visual Studio 6 is sufficient if you aren't doing any C++ work. As far as I can tell, support for C wasn't improved in any noticeable way in .NET. Can you be more specific about what you want to do? then we can give you an idea of how to go about doing it. :) |
Welcome Bklynjava, I hope you enjoy your stay here, I know I have, and it's only been a week for me :D

Not until I get around to changing my editor background back to sky blue. White is just too hard on the eyes. ;) |
