Talking aim icons
A couple of my friends have Aim icons that make sounds whenever they make an emoticon or say lol or such. Needless to say, this makes me want to rip my ears off, so I was wondering if anyone could provide a more elegant solution to my problem. I don't see any preferences which allows you to turn the sound off for icons in Aim.

Uninstall Aim
Install Gaim/Trillian/Adium .etc.etc.etc |
There should be a setting which allows you to turn off sounds, and notifications

The question is which messanger you are using. MSN has option to disable these IM or set them to no voice, in preferences I think.

Iftikhar, AIM usually stands for AOL Instant Messenger. Take a glance at the title. I think MJ means that he is having the problem in AIM, as opposed to YIM, or MSN. :p
What version of AIM are you using? The option to turn off sounds may be hidden in there somewheres, depending on how old your version is. It might be the "SuperBuddy" feature causing the annoying sounds. There is a program or two out there that can remove the "annoyware" that installs "SuperBuddy". If worse comes to worse, you can always install another client, but if you've gotten comfortable with the client you're using, there's no need to change. |
Turn the sound/speakers off....

Yes, I am using Aim.
Thanks, Prm, will try that. |
Quite useful information I got. :)
