I don't get it.I need a tutor.:) if anyone is willing to help me learn feel free to add me to msnmessenger.Now lets call the beggers picky.I like to get help from someone who uses Dev-C++ on windows XP. My msn is james_c_edmonds@hotmail.com.I can make and run hello world and thats about it.The online tutorials are just beyond me.Feel free to bash me and point me to online tutorials all you like.I've probaly already tried to read the ones you point me to already.I come here what seems like a lot and read only to leave more confused.I know what a search fuction is and I know what Google is.It's not being able to understand the basic concepts of programming i guess.I'm interested in learning to write codes for windows applicatons for starters.(small applications for starters)So In short no reply is needed but if you got the time to help a monkey learn to program(and understand it)feel free to add me to msn.Thanks in advance.

I think the first thing that comes to most of our minds: Is payment involved?

If not, most of us will tell you to try to write a program you have in mind, then come back with more specific questions to where we can all have a shot at answering them. This way you can learn by trial and error.

Why not try to buy a book on C++, or if you dont want to spend some cash you can download Thinking in C++ by Bruce Eckel form his web site at http://mindview.net/Books/TICPP/ThinkingInCPP2e.html .

If you are finding C++ hard maybe you should start with an easier language for a beginner such as python.

Ty for the responces.I wished I could afford to pay someone to teach me,but as I'm just a lowly hillbilly hick I cannot afford such luxuries.I'll have to accept the scraps off the tables of others to suceed at this.
I do have a project in mind.It shouldn't involve much more the adding pictures,buttons,a few textfiles, and clicklisteners.Just for starters.I'm sure they will be more to it than just this but I'll have to wait to see.It's probaly something most you could do in a few hours if you know the textfiles.

I download that already.OK,one thing I've noticed in most tutorials is there comparision skills.So I'll say it like this I asked to learn to cook steak and your sending me to cook rice.I looked over serveral other languages and C++ looks the most appealing.I actualy stopped C++ and took a taste of python.It's not so much not being able to learn it,its the overall dialog thats throwing me.Any programming tutorial uses the same terms for explaining likewise processes.What I'm really looking for is somone who can teach me what there actualy saying.maybe i having some problems explaining it all.
What I'm looking for is someone I can add to msn and occasionaly ask questions to.If more than 1 person adds me then I can keep from bothering the same person and wearing out my welcome.I don't have but a couple hours a day that I can spend learning this till I die hopefully around 90.(who want to live forever aye?).So if you don't mind a pestering monkey on your back to teach him something add me.

When i started to learn to program i didnt have someone teach me, i was given a book on Turbo Pascal by my dad and i read each chapter and compiled the examples and then did the exercises at the end of the chapter. Now i know this way of learning is not for everyone. To tell you the absolute truth i dont really know C++, i know the syntax enough so that i can understand some one elses code. I know java, C and Visual Basic, i would be more than happy to help you with either one of those languages.

Everyone has to start from somewhere, i didnt start with C or even C++, i started with a simple language VB and then worked my way up. It so much easier to teach someone a simpler language and then move onto a more complex one like C++. Im not saying that your not capable of learning C++ as your first language, but i think you might just need so start with a simpler language.

One last point i would like to make is that a simpler language like python or java is no means less powerfull. And no your not a "pestering monkey" you just want to learn and want some help. Most people in these forums would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have, and i dont mind answering any questions if you want help.

I wouldn't think they are less powerfull.Just less portable.Unless you consider portability as a part of a programs power.

There is a dimension to programming that goes beyond the language used, just as there is a dimension to nuclear physics that goes beyond the natural spoken language of the physicist. One can learn both at once and many (maybe most) do. The fact remains that if you choose a language that is closer in level of abstraction to your thinking, you will be less distracted, by struggling with syntax, from learning the rudiments of programming. It's entirely your choice, but I believe it to be a valid point worth thinking about.

I've read a lot of post on this forum and i mean a lot.Didnt understand many.But like I pmed someone earlier its only was a matter of time before DaWei would get his 2 cent in.Just playing with you BTW.OK.Im not realy a well spoken person.Mainly cause I don't have words for all that i think.Same context I believe.Once i get a foothold of basic understanding I should be fine for the mostpart.I understand what your saying.But if your learning somthing totaly foreign it all looks the same.So I don't know what one is closest to my natural state.I'll stick with C++.

That's why I'm here. If you found the post offensive, I'm just flabbergasted. I make those kind all the time, but this clearly isn't one of them. Perhaps you should see if you can get your lobotomy reversed.
