Search Engine

I have this idea of creating a search engine. Would it be able to be scripted in perl or should I learn another language and try to do it that way? What do you guys think?

I would suggest designing the search engine before worrying about details like that.

perl would be great, what ooble means is that for such a monumental task, there needs to be some design involved. unless you mean to create a SIMPLE search engine. it took google many years to be worth a shit, i used google when it first came out and it sucked, i used altavista then. i just switched to google a couple years ago.

Look at Windows Live! They're definitely better than they were when they started, but they still suck. (I use them any way.)

Much better.
if you know any JavaScript you can write youre own applications with the built in IDE! It had a GUI and a FS and some 100 programs. And 500 in development.

Hey splinter9x I actually coded a search engine for my website a while back and posted the code here it's in PHP though. Don't know if that's what you're looking for, but here's something to help you get an idea I suppose http://www.programmingforums.org/for...ead.php?t=5894
