A programming request.
 

I am looking for someone who can program a utility, mod, or driver edit that will allow me to have three screens hooked up on seprate video cards appear to windows as one very wide sscreen with a resolution of 3072*768 or 1024*768 X3. Or to allow me to launch games in windowed mode at higher resolutions than the screen that they are being launched on. The reason I want to do this is to be able to run games like HL2 in full screen across three screens with a wide viewing angle allowing me to play as if I had peripheral vision. It is possible to do this with games in windowed mode at lower resolutions by putting your screen at maximum resolution opening the game at a lower three screen resolution then using windows to lower the resolution so that the window will fill the whole three screens. The problem is that a windowed game will not open at a higher resolution than that of the screen.

I would be indebted to who ever can do this and I am sure that there are others with similar problems as mine who would also be happy.

Resolutions don't have anything to do with the programming of the computer. They are set by the monitors hardware. Setting a monitor to a resolution of 3000*2400(or whatever it would be) would probably blow up or set your monitor on fire or something, due to the heat being generated. As for setting up 3 monitors on separate videocards, that's already possible with windows default. If you have a videocard which supports it, install it, plug a monitor in, then go into your display properties > resolution tab and you should be able to set the amount of monitors you want to use in there. Usually your videocard display properties will allow you to set which monitor is middle, top, and all edges.

I don't think that you understood me correctly. I want all three monitors to be recognised as one. so instead of something in display properties that looks likt this three seprate monitors I want one lonfg monitor.

I know what you mean, I've done it many times. Unless you're talking about cutting the plastic off the sides of your monitor and taping them together that way, I do understand you. The way windows allows you to setup the monitors is so when you move the mouse over to the right side of the screen, it then appears on the monitor to the right of you. Just install 2 videocards, plug them in, go into display properties and you will see.

Other than that, explain a little bit more clearly.

If there's not already an app out to do that, then there's no point in asking. This type of program would probably take a very long time to program and no one would do that without being paid. Look around google for monitor apps that might let you do this but if there's none, I don't think you are in too much luck. You would be better off waiting for a company to make it, or just learn programming yourself and take on the challenge.

Well I guess the ammount of time it takes to creat would depend on allot of different factors including the way it works which I assume you have allready thought about to have given an estimat of a very long time. It is possible that someone may think of another simpler methode that wouldn't take very long. I find your comments to have been very closed minded.

I was kind of expecting this kind of response, since you most likely have never gotten deeply into programming. I am a very open-minded person and I think I've come to a pretty accurate conclusion above. Programmers get paid a lot of money for what they do because most of the time it's not an easy job and this type of program is something you wouldn't see very often done by a hobbyist programmer.

Woha I didn't know I was being confrontational. If YOU find this request out of this world then move on and let someone elce look at it. There is no need for negative comments like that.
