How do you..... watch DVDs?
I used to use PowerDVD as it came with my computer and I was more than happy with it. Now I have installed a copy of XP on my machine from an actual XP disk as I duel boot'd with Ubuntu. Windows Media Player wont play DVDs because there's no Decoder installed.
Just wondering what you guys use to play DVDs through XP, hopefully something free? If not can anyone suggest something that's gunna work well with Ubuntu and is also free? cheers ade

Take a look here for instructions on how to play DVDs in Ubuntu. Due to licensing issues, Ubuntu can't bundle in DVD playing libraries by default.

I second VLC. It works well and you don't have to sit through those damned "no skip" ads.

I use my DVD player and television. If that's impossible because the whole house is asleep, I just pop in my DVD and use whatever Windows throws at me. I think it's Windows Media Player.
Seriously... I don't see what the real difference is between all these programs. When I watch a movie, I'm too busy WATCHING THE MOVIE to care about whatever uber-1337 features the player has. And the point is moot anyway, because watching it on TV is far, far superior

Uman, he's saying WMP won't play his DVDs. :p
I third VLC, and I would also recommend Media Player Classic, which is quite similar. |

Yeah WMP still needs some other DVD program(/library/codec?) to be installed to play DVD's, which sucks. I use PowerDVD btw.
