Okay, this just occurred to me, so I haven't searched. Is there a similar tool that monitors what files have been modified or added to your system in some period of time?

Check out Winalysis. It monitors system files, etc.

As for the scripting problem, head over to Autoit. I've used it many times, and it does exactly what scripting you're looking for.
