I know a few people with cubes, but I've not tried particularly hard to solve one yet myself.

Well, I look at the Rubic's similar to the way I approached Sudoku.

At first, I quickly glanced (for maybe 2 minutes), got frustrated, and left it.
I picked up Sudoku seriously for 5 minutes one day a few weeks later, and I got it pretty fast. Now, I like figuring out the challenging ones.

I've never seriously attempted to solve a Rubic's cube, though I imagine if I got a jolt of motivation (and a lot of time), I could atleast make some progress.

some people in our school play the cube while they are walking to class - I enjoy throwing paper at them. lol - but no, really - I play DDR too and im at your skill level.

I've never been able to get the cube done. It probably just takes lots and lots of practice.
