I am finally learning Visual Basic. In my course, I once mentioned something about Object-Oriented and the instructor told me that it is not OO but an Event-driven language. I have had several college courses in C++ and a couple in Java.

In Java you have to write functions to to take care of events too. VB sure seems alot like it is OOP but is strictly done by an IDE and relies a lot on objects already in Windows. I did find a site that said the whole purpose of of VB.net was to add OOP functions to the VB language. I also saw a lot about methodologies.

Does anyone know if there is a distinct difference in OOP and Event-driven languages? Is and event-driven language a sub catagory of OOP?

I always thought that there were only two major types of programming languages; structured (linear) and OOP. I guess I may be in for a real eye awaking lesson. Thanks to all who reply!

vb is OOP but the fact that it isnt fully OO because the fact that you dont need to use them if you dont want but it is techniquely OO
